  1. Welcome to ArcImage version 1.0
  2.  
  3. This file contains a brief summary of the what is contained in this
  4. release along with information to help you get started.
  5.  
  6. ArcImage is an "image"-based database that allows you to easily 
  7. collect and organize image data from various sources and in serveral 
  8. different formats. 
  9.  
  10. Highlights of ArcImage v1.0 include:
  11. - Background image compression
  12. - Support for PCX, BMP, GIF, TIF, Targa, DCX, WPG, EPS,... 
  13. - Batch Importing
  14. - Drag-n-Drop support
  15. - Import "preview"
  16. - Thumbnail catalog printing
  17. - Support for vector graphics
  18. - Enhanced JPEG support (8 and 24-bit color)
  19. - Support for Microsoft Video for Windows (.AVI) files
  20. - Allows sound (.WAV) files to be attached to each image
  21. - Support for OLE (as a client)
  22. - Improved print functions

  24. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  25. Windows 3.1, 386+ computer, 4mb+ RAM, Hard Hisk
  26. Microsoft MCI Video driver (optional)
  27. Microsoft MCI Audio driver (optional)
  28. SVGA video card (recommeded)

  30. INSTALLATION
  31. If you haven't already run the installation program, you can do so 
  32. by selecting RUN from the "Files" pulldown menu in the Program 
  33. Manager and entering A:\INSTALL.
  34.  
  35. During installation setup, ArcImage checks to see if you have the 
  36. Microsoft Video for Windows (MVW) drivers installed. If not, you 
  37. are given the option to install the runtime version of MVW. 
  38. After the MVW setup is complete, you will be given the opportunity 
  39. to restart Windows. Doing so is not absolutely necessary but highly 
  40. recommended. If you do restart Windows you will need to run the 
  41. install program again.

  43. RUNNING
  44. Once installation is complete, you are ready to run ArcImage. The main
  45. window consists of little more than a pulldown menu. Select the Files/Open
  46. menu item and open up the SAMPLE.BIF file to see an example of the type 
  47. of data ArcImage is capable of managing.

  49. HELP
  50. The documention for ArcImage consists of the Help File. Press F1 at any time
  51. during the execution of the program to get context-sensitive information.
